The skin is the largest organ of our body. Depending on various factors such as genetic predispositions and diet, each of us has a different type of skin – normal, dry, oily, or combination – that requires additional care.
Face masks are a great nourishing addition to your skincare routine. Depending on your needs, you can apply them once a week or less.
How to make simple but nutritious face masks at home?
Banana Masks
If there is a fruit that contains all the nutrients needed for facial care, it is the banana.
Banana is rich in vitamin A, which will take care of your dark circles, and vitamin E, an antioxidant that reduces the harmful effects of the sun’s rays and hydrates and protects the skin from drying out.
For glowing skin
Mix one banana with a quarter cup of yogurt and two spoons of honey. Apply the mixture and leave it for up to 20 minutes, then wash it with cold water.
For facial hydration
Mash a banana and an avocado, and add a teaspoon of honey. Leave the mixture on your face for about 20 minutes then, wash it off with lukewarm water.
For problems with pimples or acne
Turmeric is an excellent bacteria-killing ingredient. The ingredients for the mask are the same as the previous one; just replace the honey with a teaspoon of turmeric and leave this mixture for about 15 minutes, then wash your face.
Masks with olive oil
If you have dry and irritated skin, olive oil regenerates and nourishes it. Use high-quality and cold-pressed oil.
Using these masks more than twice a week is not recommended because, due to their density, they can close the pores when used too often.
For soft skin and anti-wrinkles
Mix one tablespoon of olive oil, honey, and freshly grated orange peel. You can also add a little bit of almond oil. Apply the mask to your face and neck, leave it for up to 15 minutes, then wash off with cold water.
For shiny and nourished skin
Mix an avocado with half a cup of olive oil until the mixture becomes consistent. Leave it on your face for 15 minutes, then wash it with lukewarm water.
You can replace the avocado with two tablespoons of white clay.
Mask with mustard
Mustard cleans the face’s pores because it contains sulfur, destroys bacteria, and is rich in vitamins A, C, and K.
Before use, test a small amount of mustard on a patch of skin as you may be sensitive to it, and it may cause an adverse reaction such as irritation.
You can make a mask only from mustard, or you can combine it with other ingredients like the following pore cleansing mask:
You need one tablespoon of mustard, one small teaspoon of lemon, and olive oil. Mix it and leave it on your face for up to 15 minutes. Wash it off with warm water.
Note: If you have acne, do not add lemon.
